On Tess and Gary’s wedding day I was providing wedding photography at Highbury Hall and at the Oratory Roman Catholic Church. I was really looking forward to Tess and Gary’s special day and working again at these familiar locations, set right in the heart of Birmingham.
My day started meeting up with Tess and the girls enjoying bridal prep at The Garden Suite. Tess had found this gorgeous private suite with its garden terrace on Airbnb. The Suite was conveniently located in Edgbaston, just round the corner from the Oratory.
Tess made her way to church in a lovely vintage car, accompanied by her father, who then made their way through the cloistered courtyard of the Oratory. Inside this stunning Roman Catholic church Gary and the guests had gathered for the ceremony. The Oratory is truly impressive with its amazing baroque architecture, domed ceilings and long nave. Within the walls of this magnificent building Tess and Gary enjoyed a personal ceremony, made extra special by Tess’s brother John-Henry assisting.
After the ceremony everyone headed out into the churchyard for a group photo before heading over to Highbury Hall. Once over at the hall Tess and Gary hosted a drinks reception in the gardens. Family photos, portraits and ‘visiting super hero shots’ were taken before the heavens opened 😉
Retreating inside the hall Tess and Gary had a few more more photos taken as the guests were seated for the wedding breakfast. This time, it was nice to use the fantastic interiors of the hall as back drops, including the minstrel gallery which over looks the main hall. Tess and Gary then made their way down the staircase from the gallery to cheers & applause from their guests before everybody enjoyed the wedding breakfast and speeches.
Later, evening celebrations got underway over in the Drawing Room with cake cutting followed by Tess and Gary taking to the floor for their first dance.
