As Kate and Luke’s wedding photographer I was really looking forward to their unique Birmingham canal boat wedding theme, taking place right in the heart of Birmingham city centre’s canal basin.
It was a beautiful Summer’s day as I met up with Kate and Luke at the Hyatt Regency for a few photos before walking though Gas Street Basin and down to Birmingham Registry Office. As Kate and Luke arrived, family and friends were there to greet them before making their way inside for the ceremony. The Birmingham Registrars conducted a very enjoyable ceremony in a light hearted manner. Everyone then gathered in the gardens where there was a lot of fun and laughter, as we captured confetti and family photos.
Heading out onto the tow paths, Kate and Luke had their portrait shots taken complete with props! With Kate and Luke’s love of outdoor sports they just had to bring their surf board and skis to complete the picture 🙂
It was soon time to join the guests on board Moira Rose for the nautical wedding breakfast. This luxurious canal cruising restaurant, operated by Away 2 dine, provided wonderful views as it travelled at a sedate pace around the canals. Whilst Kate, Luke and the guests enjoyed speeches and delicious food, freshly prepared by the on board chef I travelled down to the Vale in Edgbaston . The rural location and scenery at the Vale made a very pleasant spot for some more photos. After Moira Rose had done a turnaround, the wedding party got back on board for the return journey to Birmingham city centre.

I can whole heatedly recommend Paul Goode. At our meeting before the wedding (6 months before!) he really put us at ease and we could very happily cross off “Find a fantastic photographer” from our list of things to do. He walked us around the area, gave us suggestions and kept in touch right up to the minute he met us at the hotel.
We threw a few curve balls at him during the day and he was brilliant. He even managed to get all our nephews together for a photo – not an easy job when one is up a tree, one is throwing a temper tantrum, one is on the loo and the other is arguing with his little sister!!
I was so happy he went through the group photographs – it was a little time consuming but the resulting photos are brilliant. Many friends have commented that they did not bother with the “old fashioned” group photos and latter regretted it. So a tip to you all – listen to Paul, he knows what he is talking about!!
Thanks for the memories Paul!!
