Just outside Birmingham City Centre was the destination for Julia and Scott’s Blakesley Hall Wedding. I was very much looking forward to being Julia and Scott’s wedding photographer and having the opportunity to work for the first time at this charming historical venue. Blakesley Hall is a unique venue offered by Birmingham Museums to wedding couples, providing exclusive use to Julia, Scott and their guests. Dating back to 1590, this Elizabethan timber framed property and beautiful gardens made a wonderful setting for the day.
I arrived at the hall ahead of the ceremony to meet up with Scott and the guests. The whole feel of the day was relaxed and informal and this certainly was the case as everybody was enjoying themselves playing garden games and listening to the music of the Minstrel.
It was soon time for Matt and the guests to gather in the Oak beamed, 17th century barn as Julia made her arrival and walked down the aisle with her mother. Everyone enjoyed the ceremony conducted by the Birmingham Registrars together with readings from the guests.
After the ceremony a handful of family photos were taken, then it was back into the gardens to enjoy garden games and afternoon tea. A hi-light of the afternoon was a falconry display provided by Hawkeye Falconry Uk. Everyone enjoyed getting close up to the magnificent birds and watching them in flight.
The informal speeches were held out by the decking in the gardens before I then had the opportunity to take Julia and Scott for their portrait shots.
